Rights Rights and Freedoms
Brooke Boney

Tickets for the 2019 Human Rights Awards, the most prestigious awards on the human rights calendar, are selling fast!

With the ceremony approaching quickly, we are excited to introduce our MC for this year, Brooke Boney.

TODAY Show viewers will recognise Brooke as their new entertainment reporter. She also spent two years as news presenter for triple j’s Breakfast program.

Joining TODAY earlier this year made Brooke, a Gamilaroi Gomeroi woman, the first Indigenous person on an Australian commercial breakfast program. She uses her position to ignite discussion about Indigenous affairs across the country.

“As someone who has reported on Indigenous issues you see what happens firsthand when [human rights] principles aren’t upheld, so to celebrate the people who are central to fighting for human rights across the country is an honour,” Brooke said about the upcoming awards.

“As a proud Gamilaroi Gomeroi woman it makes me think of the people who have fought for Aboriginal rights – whether it was to change the constitution after the 1967 referendum, fighting for land rights, or the push for treaty now – there are heroes all around us.”

Secure your tickets – or a table of ten – today to avoid missing out on this opportunity to recognise some of the most dedicated human rights advocates in our community.

As Commission President Emeritus Professor Rosalind Croucher said, “This year’s finalists are all outstanding advocates for a fairer and more equal Australia for all.

“Their dedication and perseverance in championing causes such as Indigenous rights, refugee rights, and accessibility for people with disability should inspire everyone.

“But, we can’t celebrate their achievements without you.”

In addition to hearing from the winners across our nine categories and our esteemed MC, guests will enjoy a two-course meal and alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages.

Join us at Sydney’s Fullerton (previously the Westin) Hotel from 12-3.30pm on Friday 13 December to celebrate our wonderful finalists.
