Zain's story

Zain is an Australian citizen. He was not considered for an internship with an engineering company because he was born overseas.

The company said it had obligations to its stakeholders that required strict recruitment processes. However, after considering the complaint, the company said that Australian citizenship would be enough to meet those obligations.

The company agreed it would change its recruitment process to allow Australians born overseas to apply.
