Know your rights: Age Discrimination (2012)

Age discrimination is when a person is treated less favourably than another person in a similar situation, because of their age.
The Age Discrimination Act makes it against the law to treat people unfairly because of their age.
The Act protects people against discrimination in many areas of public life, including employment, education and accommodation. It also covers services such as banking and insurance, services provided by government departments, transport or telecommunication services, professional services such as those provided by lawyers, doctors or tradespeople, and services provided by restaurants, shops or entertainment venues.
