From: Judith Boswell Sent: Monday, 7 December 2009 4:59 PM To: disabdis Subject: Captioning for movies I wish to express my concerns about the application from the cinema industry to exempt them from the Disability Act for the next 2 years +. This will further erode the range of entertainments available to deaf and hard-of-hearing people in the community (about one in five people). Television stations are able to provide captions for a high proportion of programs – even real-time captions. ALL cinemas should be obliged to present at least one session per day at which ALL movies are captioned. Dr Judith Boswell Audiologist Adelaide Hearing Consultants 51 Angas St Adelaide SA 5000
