From: Marc Brew Sent: Friday, 4 December 2009 4:20 PM To: disabdis Subject: Cinema Access To Whom It MAy Concern, I was appalled to read that the Human Rights Commission is even contemplating the request made from Village Roadshow, Greater Union, Hoyts and Reading Cinemas to be exempt from the Disability Discrimination Act for a period of two and a half years. Why do we even have the DDA if an organisation can even think about requesting to be exempt. How is that possible? Where is our human right if the DDA does not even stand to protect us. Isn't that what it is there for? As an artist with a disability I strongly object to the application made by Village Roadshow, Greater Union, Hoyts and Reading Cinemas. If this was the UK there would be no way this conversation would even be happening. Kindest Regards, Marc Brew Marc Brew Company has had a very successful tour performing Nocturne as part of the Without Walls Consortium - 8 free festival of outdoor performance around the UK.
