From: Donna Cole To: disabdis Subject: Captioning at cinemas To whom it may concern: I am writing this email on behalf of my ten year old son, who is profoundly deaf and communicates using sign language. I believe that there are already not enough movie sessions that are captioned. As a hearing person, I would be happy for ALL movies to have captioning. Captioning is not offensive and, if anything, is a minor inconvenience for hearing people as opposed to a major inconvenience to Deaf people by not having them. Deaf people should be able to choose the movie THEY want to see, at the time THEY want to see it and at the cinema of THEIR choice. All cinemas are equipped for people in wheelchairs to be able to access because to deny physically disabled people the ability to enjoy a movie would be discrimination. Why is alright for Deaf people to be denied this right. To NOT have captioning for Deaf people IS discrimiation. Yours faithfully, Donna Cole-Gibson Find out how Use Messenger in your Hotmail inbox
