From: Downey, Robyn Sent: Monday, 7 December 2009 5:19 PM To: disabdis Subject: Cinema captions [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED] To Whom it May Concern I wish it to be known that I oppose the application by The Cinema Industry for an exemption from the Disability Discrimination Act in relation to captioning for the next two and a half years. I believe this will be discriminatory to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing people in our community who have fought hard to have suitable captioning in Australia and for whom such captioning increases their quality of life enormously in enabling them to enjoy movies/cinema as all normal hearing Australian citizens have every right to do. Yours truly Robyn Downey Audiologist, Clinical Leader Region 5 Vic-SANT
