From: Evans, Gillian Sent: Tuesday, 1 December 2009 8:50 AM To: disabdis Subject: cinema access I strongly object to the application by the Village Roadshow, Greater Union, Hoyts and Reading Cinemas groups that they be exempted from the Disability Discrimination Act for a period of 2 ˝ years. If such an application was to be successful, it would mean placing severe limitations on the ability of Australians with hearing and vision difficulties to attend the cinema. Going to the “movies” should remain a relatively cheap entertainment and should be available to all members of the community.
