Dear Sir/Madam,
I was horrified to learn today that there has been an application by the
large cinema owners in this country for exemption from the DDA for an
extended period.
This is quite unacceptable and is completely out of step with
anti-discrimination ideals and practice.
As a legally blind person with less than five per cent visual acuity, I
am no longer able to see enough of a cinema or television screen to make
sense of what is going on unless someone is present to give an audio
description. However, I enjoy a visit to the movies as much as anyone
else, and there are many films I should love to watch (or at least to
listen to).
Please add my voice to the cries of protest which I am sure will be
flooding into your office over the next week.

Regards,
SALLY JARY
