From: carole lynch Sent: Monday, 7 December 2009 8:17 PM To: disabdis Subject: Cinemas have a duty to provide facilities for the disabled I write to add my voice to demand that all WA cinemas provide facilities for the disabled, be they hearing or sight impaired (or access for wheel chairs). It is an abuse of human rights to allow cinemas to dispense with supplying hearing loops etc. NO cinema should be exempt for any period. I have friends who are hearing impaired and who love going to the cinema. As an older citizen of Perth my faculties are currently intact, but I expect that, when they do fail, I will still be able to enjoy an evening at a cinema as part of my social life. The demographics state that there is an ever increasing elderly population who may experience hearing and sight problems. Are these people to be treated as second class citizens, along with those who were unfortunate to be disabled earlier in life? I strongly protest this proposal to deny the rights of all disabled folk. Carole Lynch
