Subject:	Lack of captioning in cinemas

Dear Sir/ Madam,  

I am very concerned at the lack of captioning in Australian cinemas and the  recent attempt by the 
cinema industry to apply for an exemption from the Disability Discrimination Act for the next 2.5 years. 
This is unacceptable in any inclusive society and is particularly inexcusable considering captioning 
technology is easily and cheaply provided.  
The application from the cinema industry should be refused.
