From: Geoff Stratton Sent: Friday, 27 November 2009 11:31 AM To: disabdis Subject: please don't give the film industry any more time to comply with making their products accessible For many years, the film and TV industry has known that they should be moving to an accessible product and, to be very frank, they have done little or nothing to progress the matter. It is only when industries are put under pressure and forced to comply with a standard that we shall see action. give them another two and a half years, and they will still want more time; for a plethora of reasons. Yes! it will be painful and, possibly costly, however, how much longer do people with vision Impairment, Hearing Impairment and general print handicapped have to wait to see something happen. Now is the time for government to show that it is a serious matter and not just a luxury that we are asking for. Would the sighted world be prepared to wait two and an half years to be able to have access to films, TV and books? I think not! Neither would a government be prepared to put up with spurious excuses for not complying. Please let us into your world! Geoff Stratton
