From: Tsialios, Ioanna [ Sent: Monday, 7 December 2009 5:15 PM To: disabdis Subject: Captioning at cinemas [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED] To whom it may concern, I strongly oppose the application as I believe in the rights of deaf and hard of hearing be able to go to the cinema and enjoy the movie with captioning. It is no different to watching a foreign movie which is captioned. But one must be aware that hearing aids do not restore hearing back to normal and even though some people wear hearing aids they may not be able to understand speech clearly and captioning is a tremendous help as they are able to read the dialogue and enjoy the movie with friends and not feel discriminated or outcasts to general population.
