From: Bev Watson Sent: Wednesday, 25 November 2009 2:11 PM To: disabdis Subject: Cinema Exemptions I write to express my disappointment and dismay that such a suggestion might even be considered. People who are deaf, hearing impaired, vision impaired or blind have the right to enjoy opportunities to attend cinemas as do other members of the community. The provision of captioning, text and audio description means access to this form of the arts is equitable. In my work role, I am continually working to enhance the opportunities for people with a disability and I consider this proposal as counter productive to promoting inclusion and participation of people with a disability. As a person with a disability, I wonder what exemptions will be sought next. Don’t worry about putting in ramps or lifts, because people who use wheelchairs never go out anyway!!!!! Let’s not be complacent about this. Cheers, Bev Bev Watson Rural Access Worker Hepburn Health Service Daylesford Community Health Centre P. O. Box 465, Daylesford, Vic. 3460
