About the 2025 nomination

Ben is a journalist who writes about human rights issues including forced migration, asylum seekers and modern slavery. He exposes abuses of power by telling the stories of people who have suffered. A 3-time Walkley Award winner, he has also received 3 UN Media Peace Prizes. Ben is a senior reporter at The Guardian.

Ben holds master’s degrees in international law and international relations from Oxford University and UNSW, is a former professional footballer, and author of a novel, Nagaland: A Love Story for Modern India.
