About the 2025 nomination

Shakira is an early childhood educator and advocate for the prevention of violence against women and children. After losing her mother Jacqui to domestic violence in 2023, Kira turned to advocacy. Her mission is to honour her mother’s memory by creating real change through Jac's Legacy. Kira speaks at rallies, partners with politicians.

She is the co-founder of Her Strength, Her Story and co-created the Butterflies and Boots Gala, an uplifting event for survivors of family and domestic abuse.
