About the 2025 nomination

Tekan Cochrane is a Kooma and Yuwaalaraay woman, lawyer, advocate and mentor. She works to create safer systems through law reform and community for First Peoples, migrants and others facing injustice.

Tekan is also the Executive Officer of Tarwirri, a not-for-profit supporting First Peoples in law, and serves on several Indigenous advisory committees. Tekan is committed to human rights, truth-telling, self-determination, and justice for all.
