About the 2026 nomination
Basic Rights Queensland is a specialist community legal centre. The team works alongside people experiencing legal, social and economic disadvantage across the state.
They ensure that Queenslanders most in need know their rights and have the power to act. The organisation upholds and advances rights to social security, freedom from discrimination and justice in the workplace, and advocate for fair and just outcomes.
Basic Rights Queensland provides holistic legal services and support directly to Queenslanders facing these complex systems, via our phoneline.
In addition to providing direct support for individuals, they work to improve systems, laws and policies through community education, partnerships, stakeholder engagement, legal research and systemic advocacy.
