About the 2026 nomination
Ethan Floyd is a 23-year-old activist, community organiser and law student committed to advancing equality, dignity and justice. Since joining the School Strike 4 Climate movement as a teenager, he has advocated for human rights across a range of issues, including First Nations justice, housing, racial equality and LGBTIQA+ inclusion.
Ethan supported the campaign for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament and participated in the 2023 National First Nations’ Water Roundtable at the Australian National University.
He is a Director of the Tenants’ Union of NSW and Democracy in Colour, a national racial justice organisation, and a Pinnacle Foundation scholar.
At the University of Sydney, Ethan successfully advocated for free menstrual products across campus and, as an elected Fellow of the Senate, promoted investment practices aligned with human rights standards.
In April 2026, Ethan joined the Global Sumud Flotilla to Gaza and has spoken publicly about his experiences. He continues to advocate for Palestinian freedom, dignity and self-determination.
