About the complaint
The complainant has an assistance dog to help manage the effects of a psychosocial disability. He alleged a nurse at the respondent medical practice refused to conduct a blood test because he was accompanied by an assistance animal.
The medical practice denied discriminating against the complainant and provided a fact sheet it has developed about assistance animals.
The complaint was resolved by conciliation after the medical practice apologised to the complainant for his experience and directed the nurse to undertake training on assistance animals.
