About the complaint
The complainant has chronic fatigue syndrome and was cleared to work one day a week after a period of significant workplace restrictions. The complainant alleged the respondent faith-based school refused to employ her as a casual relief teacher after she disclosed her disability, despite employing her on this basis previously.
The school advised that due to an administrative error, the medical certificate clearing the complainant to work one day a week without restriction was not provided to the relevant decision maker.
The complaint was resolved with an agreement that the school employ the complainant as a casual relief teacher on the basis that the complainant undertake not to work beyond her capacity in order to ensure health and safety at work.
