About the complaint
The complainant worked at the respondent warehouse business. She alleged that on a weekend group outing, a colleague tried to kiss her and hold on to her. She claimed that he became hostile towards her at work and outside work once she rejected his advances. She claimed that after she reported the behaviour to human resources, she felt her job was at risk and chose to resign. She alleged the business did not give her a reference because it considered her ‘too much trouble’.
The business and former colleague denied the allegations and agreed to participate in conciliation to try to resolve the complaint.
The complaint was resolved with an agreement that the business pay the complainant $30,000 as general damages.
