About the complaint
The complainant is an Aboriginal child who was banned from a sporting facility following an incident with other children. It was alleged that the complainant was banned because of his race while another child, who made racially derogatory comments about the complainant, was not banned.
The sporting facility claimed the complainant was banned because he instigated the incident and assaulted another child.
The complaint was resolved by conciliation with an agreement that the sporting facility pay the complainant $16,500.
