About the complaint
The complainant was employed in a catering role with the respondent company which delivered training and logistics support in the shipping industry. She alleged a colleague sexually harassed her, including by exposing his penis and masturbating in front of her and showing her images of naked women. She alleged that senior managers were abusive and threatening towards her when she made complaints about the conduct. The company ultimately terminated the complainant’s employment.
The respondents denied the allegations and indicated a willingness to participate in conciliation to try to resolve the complaint.
The complaint was resolved with an agreement that the respondents jointly pay the complainant $60,000 as general damages.
