About the complaint
The complainant alleged that on her first day working for the respondent telecommunications company, her manager invited her out to lunch and sexually harassed her, including by expressing a personal connection, saying he wanted to kiss her, and touching her leg. She said she complained about the manager’s conduct to a director who was a friend of the manager. She alleged that the director told her manager about the complaint and he placed her on a performance management plan with unrealistic performance expectations. The complainant said she felt she had no option but to resign.
On being advised of the complaint, the company indicated a willingness to participate in conciliation to try to resolve the complaint.
The complaint was resolved with an agreement that the company pay the complainant $70,000.
