About the complaint
The complainant has an assistance dog that assist her to manage her disability. She alleged the respondent zoo/wildlife park discriminated against her by requiring her to leave her assistance dog at the entrance.
The respondent zoo/wildlife park confirmed patrons were not permitted to enter the park with assistance animals. The park claimed that to allow animals to enter the park would impose an unjustifiable hardship on it because it would present a biosecurity risk or risk of other harm to some species at the park.
The complaint was resolved with an agreement that assistance animals would be permitted to enter certain areas of the park, so that any identified risks to species could be appropriately managed.
