About the complaint

The complainant has autism and is non-verbal. He alleged the respondent public housing provider withdrew an offer of a two-bedroom apartment because it was concerned he would not be able to live independently.

The housing provider denied discriminating against the complainant but agreed to participate in conciliation.

The complaint was resolved with an agreement that the housing provider offer the property to the complainant conditional on the availability of appropriate support to enable him to live independently.
