About the report
When we create new technology, we should ask people for input, include everyone, and make sure it’s fair and responsible. It also needs strong rules to protect human rights.
The Human Rights and Technology Final Report aims to foster a deeper understanding of the human rights implications of new and emerging technologies to ensure AI is designed and used ethically.
It includes detailed information on:
- facial recognition technology
- algorithmic bias
- the creation of an AI Commissioner.
The report is in 4 parts:
- Part A: a national strategy on new and emerging technologies.
- Part B: the use of AI in decision making by government and the private sector.
- Part C: supporting effective regulation through the creation of an AI Safety Commissioner.
- Part D: accessible technology for people with disability.
It draws on extensive consultation with the community, government, industry and academia.
