About the Submission
The Australian Human Rights Commission (the Commission) made a submission to the Department of Employment and Workplace relations as part of its consultation on shaping the future of employment services. The consultation paper sets out a proposal for a more effective employment services system that helps people into suitable, meaningful jobs.
This submission complements the Age Discrimination Commissioner's participation in the Employment Services Reform Advisory Group and calls for employment services providers to be equipped to refer job seekers to affordable care services and facilitate conversations around flexible work arrangements.
The submission also calls for an improved performance measurement framework and a national age inclusion strategy to address age discrimination in hiring and retention of older workers.
