HRIA Tool

The Australian Human Rights Commission (Commission) partnered with the National Australia Bank (NAB) to produce a human rights impact assessment tool for artificial intelligence-informed decision-making systems in banking (HRIA Tool: AI in Banking).

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) has the capability to improve efficiency and increase customer satisfaction when engaging with banking services.

However, given the important role banks play in storing the wealth of Australians, it is important that when integrating AI it is done ethically - with human rights at the forefront.

The Project

The HRIA Tool: AI in Banking project delivers a pragmatic product that can be used by the banking industry to conduct human rights impact assessments on their use of AI.

This project was completed in 2023.
