The Commission is looking to fill the position of Senior Policy Advisor, Executive Level 1, on a non-ongoing basis for 12 months with a possibility of becoming ongoing during this time. The salary range is $100,180 to $112,013 pa plus 15.4% superannuation.

This position has been established to support the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner, and more generally across the Commission, to contribute to key identified projects relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The position holder will:
- manage complex relationships across the Indigenous community, corporate, industry and government sectors, and work collegiately and in partnership with such stakeholders
- have excellent policy knowledge and will be proactive and responsive to highly complex issues
- demonstrate excellent writing skills, undertake quality research, and deliver evidence-based material of a publishable standard
- work collegiately with other teams across the Commission, as well as other key projects such as the Wiyi Yani U Thangani (Women's Voices) Project, the Close the Gap Campaign and the Native Title Project
Commissioner June Oscar's Wiyi Yani U Thangani (Women's Voices) Report has now been published. The focus of her work over the coming year is the implementation of those structural reforms identified throughout the report that are necessary for the equal enjoyment of human rights by First Nations women and girls. The advertised position within the Social Justice team will play a key role in ensuring that the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women are heard, and that their calls for change are answered.
