Current Opportunities

The Commission is looking to fill the position of Senior Policy Advisor, Executive Level 1, on a non-ongoing basis for 12 months with a possibility of becoming ongoing during this time. The salary range is $100,180 to $112,013 pa plus 15.4% superannuation.

Please note that the filling of this employment opportunity is intended to constitute a special measure under subsection 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975This vacancy is only available to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This position has been established to support the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner, and more generally across the Commission, to contribute to key identified projects relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The position holder will:

  • manage complex relationships across the Indigenous community, corporate, industry and government sectors, and work collegiately and in partnership with such stakeholders 
  • have excellent policy knowledge and will be proactive and responsive to highly complex issues
  • demonstrate excellent writing skills, undertake quality research, and deliver evidence-based material of a publishable standard
  • work collegiately with other teams across the Commission, as well as other key projects such as the Wiyi Yani U Thangani (Women's Voices) Project, the Close the Gap Campaign and the Native Title Project
