Recommendation for temporary exemption: Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (Queensland Rail)
I recommend that, pursuant to an application under section 55 of the Disability Discrimination Act ("the DDA"), the Commission grant Queensland Rail a temporary exemption from sections 23 and 24 of the DDA so far as they require installation of Tactile Ground Surface Indicators. -

Australasian Railways Association application for temporary exemption under the Disability Discrimination Act: Recommendations (Consultation Draft)
These draft recommendations are being circulated for comment before final recommendations are put to the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission. In view of the amount of discussion which has already occurred on this application a period of four weeks for comments is being provided. -

Outcome of Queensland Rail consultations on TGSIs
On 11 February 2002 the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission decided to grant a temporary exemption to Queensland Rail (QR) under section 55 of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). The exemption was for a period of 6 months, from the provisions of sections 23 and 24 of the DDA, in so far as they require installation of tactile ground surface indicators.
