The Death Penalty - a matter of principle
It is almost 40 years since the last man was hanged in Australia. Today, the death penalty has been abolished in every Australian jurisdiction. Opposition to the death penalty attracts bi-partisan political support. Yet in a region where many of our closest neighbours still maintain the death penalty, I believe Australia can - and should - take a stronger stand against state sanctioned execution. -

Inquiry into hearing health in Australia (2009)
This submission is based on research conducted by the Commission into hearing impairment and deafness in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in 2009. The submission therefore focuses exclusively on hearing health in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The Commission only commenced this research recently but it is expected to be completed by December 2009. -

Close the Gap - National Indigenous Health Equality Targets
On 20 December 2007, the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) agreed to a partnership between all levels of government to work with Indigenous1 communities to achieve the target of ‘closing the gap’ on Indigenous disadvantage; and notably, to close the 17-year gap in life expectancy within a generation, and to halve the mortality rate of Indigenous children within ten-years. -
