January 2019 marks the half-way point of my 5-year term as Australia’s Disability Discrimination Commissioner. My job is to work towards an Australia where the rights of people with disability are respected, protected and promoted. Here, I present a brief overview of my work to date.

The 17th Session of the Conference of State Parties (COSP) to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is a three-day international event about the human rights of persons with disabilities. It will be held at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York 11–13 June 2024.
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is the first binding international human rights instrument to explicitly address disability.
