Periodic Review

In December 2022, the United Nations Committee against Torture, through its follow-up procedures, requested Australia provide an update on the implementation of recommendations made during Australia's sixth periodic review.

The Committee's request focused on three priority areas: mandatory immigration detention, conditions of detention and juvenile justice.

Our Submission

This submission provides the Committee with relevant information on these three areas and an update on Australia's progress toward implementing the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture (OPCAT).
