Terms and Conditions of Entry:
General
1. The Promoter of the competition is the Australian Human Rights Commission (the Commission).

2. By entering this competition, you accept these Terms and Conditions, which are the rules of the competition.
Entering the Competition
1. To enter this competition, you must be enrolled in years 10 to 11 at a school in Australia.
2. Submit your written work or speech recording by 17 September 2016. Your written work or speech recording will not be returned, so please make sure you make a copy of it.
3. Alternatively, you may provide a link to your essay or speech i.e., its URL on a blog, YouTube or elsewhere on the Internet.
Judging
1. One winner will be selected by the Race Discrimination Commissioner, Dr Tim Soutphommasane, though the Commissioner reserves the right not to award a prize. All decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
2. The Commission will not use or publish any written work or speech recording that is inappropriate.
3. The winners will be notified and announced on or before the Annual Kep Enderby Memorial Lecture which will be held on 27 October 2016.
Prizes
1. The winning student's prize will be presented to the student at the Annual Kep Enderby Memorial Lecture which will be held on 27 October 2016.
2. If the winning student resides outside of New South Wales or in regional New South Wales, the Commission will fund their airfare to Sydney, as well as the airfare of their parent, guardian or school Principal.
3. The school prize will be posted to the Principal of the school.
4. If the original prize/s offered are not available, the Commission will replace the prize/s with other prize/s of a similar value.
Privacy
1. Your personal information will only be used, collected or disclosed in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles and the Commission's Privacy Policy available at http://www.humanrights.gov.au/privacy#_Toc382561162
2. Your personal information is being collected for the purpose of running this competition. If your written work or speech recording is one of the winning entries, the Commission may publish your work on its website or in the Race Discrimination Commissioner's monthly newsletter, as well as your name, year grade, school and state of residence.
Intellectual Property
1. You retain copyright in your written work or speech.
2. The Commission and any third party authorised by the Commission may, for any purpose, reproduce the written work or speech submitted by you, at any point in the future, in hard copy or electronic format, including as an edited version or adaptation. By entering this competition, you are deemed to have granted the Commission a non-exclusive, irrevocable and perpetual fee-free license to reproduce your work.
3. To the extent permitted by law, you waive all moral rights in your written work or speech.
