The majority of reported sexual harassment was targeted at women, involved multiple forms of harassing behaviour and occurred on more than one occasion. In over one in five cases, the harassment continued for more than 12 months. Verbal harassment was often a precursor to physical forms of harassment. -

Racial Discrimination Act complaints : Conciliated Outcomes examples
Under the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 it is unlawful to do any act involving a distinction, exclusion, restriction or preference based on race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin which has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment or exercise, on equal footing, of any human right or fundamental freedom in the political, economic, social, cultural or any other field of public life. The Act also prohibits offensive behaviour based on racial hatred. -

Indigenous Deaths in Custody: Part E Profiles: Indigenous Deaths in Custody 1989 - 1996
That the death occured as a result of cardiorespiratory failure as a result of pneumonia from the aspiration of fluids in the chest cavity following brain damage. The deceased was found to have contributed to his death by his excessive intake of alcohol and his neglect of his own nourishment. The attending doctor at the hospital and the police forensic surgeon were also found to have acted unreasonably in relation to the transfer of the deceased from the Gippsland Base Hospital to the Sale Police Station. -

6. Australia's Immigration Detention Policy and Practice
Australian law requires the detention of all non-citizens who are in Australia without a valid visa (unlawful non-citizens). This means that immigration officials have no choice but to detain persons who arrive without a visa (unauthorised arrivals), or persons who arrive with a visa and subsequently become unlawful because their visa has expired or been cancelled (authorised arrivals). Australian law makes no distinction between the detention of adults and children. -

These notes summarise three separate consultations attended by a total of 41 high school students in Years 7 -11 from three government schools in the Parramatta, Granville and Bondi school districts in the Sydney metropolitan area. Most students invited to take part in the consultations were of Muslim or Arabic-speaking background. Students were required to obtain permission from their parents in order to participate. The meetings were organised with the assistance of the NSW Department of Education and Training and participating schools. -

DDA conciliation: education
A man complained on behalf of his grandson, a year 6 school student, that reasonable adjustments were not being made to accommodate his disabilities including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. He was concerned that his grandson had been suspended on several occasions, and was frequently sent home from school early.
