Close The Gap Community Guide
The poor health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is no secret – and something can be done about it. Since 2006, Australia’s peak Indigenous and non- Indigenous health bodies, NGOs and human rights organisations have worked together to secure the support of Australian governments for a human rights based approach to achieving health and life expectation equality for Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This is known as the Close the Gap Campaign. -

Launch of the Supreme Court Equal Treatment Benchbook
When I first entered the law 'benchbooks' were closely guarded, leather bound books into which judges carefully entered notes as a case progressed - usually I thought adverse comments and exclamation marks about one's arguments or less than flattering remarks about one's principal witness. These books seemed to be some kind of secret code to the outcome of cases and never saw the light of day. -

It is with great pleasure that I present my second Native Title Report as the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner. Centuries ago a great many of the inhabitants of this beautiful island were wiped out by colonization and its aftermath. The disappearance of so many is a solemn reminder of the injustice done to the first peoples of this land. Their violent absence is a presence that calls for us to reflect on injustices, suffering and reconciliation in the broadest sense. To them I pay my respects. -

Working past our 60s: Reforming laws and policies
As a society, we have been slow to recognise that millions of older Australians are locked out of the workforce by age discrimination. We are only now starting to understand what a terrible waste of human capital this situation represents; a loss to the national economy and to businesses large and small, and a loss to the individual who is pushed out of the workforce prematurely. -

Capturing the diversity advantage - Our experiences in elevating the representation of women in leadership - A letter from business leaders (2011)
For most Australian companies, the transition from Phase 1—Getting in the game, to Phase 2—Getting serious, will be most relevant. However, a number of our companies have been in Phase 2 for some time. Some of us see a path to continued improvement, with a payoff that will go further than just gender balance. Woolworths and CBA’s experiences, starting on page 30, show how individual companies have navigated Phases 1 and 2, and how they are beginning to think about the next phase of their journey. -
