If we continue to start over again the foundations previously laid will be pulled up time and again, never allowing enough time or energy to build the structure required to close the gap on Indigenous disadvantage.[121]

Brian Gleeson, the Coordinator General for Remote Indigenous Services
-

Section 12 - Other actions that could be taken by the Australian Government to protect LGBTI people in Australia - Addressing sexual orientation and sex and/or gender identity discrimination: Consultation Report (2011)
The consultation received a number of suggestions about other ways in which the Australian Government could protect the human rights of LGBTI people in Australia. Many participants argued that while anti-discrimination legislation is an important step towards equality, it is essential that it is accompanied by other actions. Suggestions were often informed by personal experiences of discrimination. -

Hastings: Finding Your Own Shape
I am delighted to have been invited to speak to you tonight on the Eve of International Women's Day, as so many of you are at the eve of being women yourselves, whether international or not. I can tell you, from my own experience, that being a woman kind of creeps up on you: one minute you're a girl, or an adolescent (whatever that may really be), and the next you are a woman! -

Presentation to the NSW Subcommittee of the Australian Braille Authority
Have you ever stopped to think about all the things that we take for granted? The purpose of the review was a broad ranging examination of the role and the various functions of HREOC. -

Not just Hollywood problem: 1 in 4 Australian women have been sexually harassed at work

Over the past year, I have spoken with many women who have told me their personal accounts of being harassed in the workplace.

I spoke to one hospital worker who was sexually harassed by a male patient, who indecently exposed himself to her. Instead of helping her, the woman's colleagues and manager assumed she was in a sexual relationship with him.

Another young woman told me she was asked to wear a bikini while fruit picking so she could get paid a bonus.
-
