By this instrument, under section 44(1) of the Age Discrimination Act 2004 (Cth)(ADA), the Australian Human Rights Commission grants an exemption to the State of New South Wales - Department of Family and Community Services, Ageing Disability and Home Care (the Applicant) from the operation of sections 28 and 29 of the ADA. The exemption is granted for a period of one year from the date of this instrument and is granted subject to the conditions outlined below. -

National Human Rights Institutions
The Australian Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (hereafter the Australian Human Rights Commission) is one of the oldest National Human Rights Institutions in the Asia Pacific region. It was originally established in 1981 as the Human Rights Commission and then restructured in 1986 to become the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission. It is a founding member and a strong supporter of the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions. -
