The meeting was facilitated by Omeima Sukkarieh (who also translated from Arabic to English) and Susanna Iuliano from HREOC. It was attended by 21 invited participants, all Iraqi women living in Shepparton who attend English classes at the Goulburn-Ovens TAFE. The consultation was held during regular class-time and two TAFE English teachers attended as observers. -

consultations on eliminating prejudice against Arab and Muslim AustraliasThe meeting was convened by Omeima Sukkarieh, Community Liaison Officer, and Susanna Iuliano, Policy Research Officer, from HREOC. It was attended by 12 participants from the local Iraqi community, including the local Imam. Participants were Iraqi refugee men, the majority on Temporary Protection Visas. As the community is small, consultation participants requested that the name of their town not be referred to in this notes. -

These notes summarise three separate consultations attended by a total of 34 staff of the NSW Department of Education and Training. The staff consisted of Anti-Racism Contact Officers, Community Information Officers and primary and secondary teachers. The meetings were organised by the Department and facilitated by Omeima Sukkarieh and attended by Meredith Wilkie or Edwina Rankin from HREOC. -

The meeting was facilitated by Omeima Sukkarieh and Susanna Iuliano from HREOC and was attended by 12 participants from the Arabic Workers Network. The network is convened by the Australian Arabic Communities Council to encourage workers whose clients are members of Sydney's Arabic community to exchange information and develop skills through regular bi-monthly meetings, information sessions and training workshops. The network is comprised of approximately 190 members. -

These notes summarise three separate consultations attended by a total of 41 high school students in Years 7 -11 from three government schools in the Parramatta, Granville and Bondi school districts in the Sydney metropolitan area. Most students invited to take part in the consultations were of Muslim or Arabic-speaking background. Students were required to obtain permission from their parents in order to participate. The meetings were organised with the assistance of the NSW Department of Education and Training and participating schools. -
