A Time to Value - Media Pack
Women incur significant workplace disadvantage from the onset of family responsibilities, not just in the immediate period following the birth of a child but over the longer term. This inevitably results in lessened economic security for women, including during retirement. The inequality of outcomes for men and women as a result of the shared duty of raising a family is self evident. While some may consider that this inequality is balanced by the communal nature of the family unit, modern family realities suggest that increasingly, economic disadvantage accrues to the individual. -

Workplace sexism: we still don't want to talk about it

I'm not sure when the word "sexist" became one of the most polarising words in the English language. Is it really so bad to talk about something that many agree is alive and well in the Australian workforce and community?

Despite laws prohibiting sex discrimination gaining wide acceptance in this country in the ‘70s and ‘80s, we are a long way from gender equality in key aspects of life.
-

Although the first Human Rights Commission was established by federal legislation in 1981, ICESCR was not added to its mandate (unlike the ICCPR). The omission was repeated when the new (current) Commission was established in 1986. -

ACCESS TO EDUCATION FOR STUDENTS WITH A DISABILITY
There are not enough services available to students with disability to match the requirements. In early education, a mix of services is often required. In schools, physical access limits choice, as does provision of support services and a selection of schools prepared to provide full access to the curriculum. Rural, regional and isolated areas provide minimal option (see also transitional services and post-school options). -
