Overview of the Bail Act amendments (2001)
The Bail Amendment (Repeat) Offenders Bill was introduced in the NSW Legislative Assembly on 20 March 2002. The Bill, which inserts a new Section 9B into the Bail Act, removes the presumption in favour of bail for certain repeat offenders, irrespective of the type of offence they have committed. Introducing the Bill to Parliament, Attorney-General Bob Debus declared its purpose to: "offer further protection to the community from the risk of repeat offenders". -

Exemption: Allocated spaces - Queensland Rail Tilt trains
By this instrument, the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (‘HREOC') grants a temporary exemption to Queensland Rail Ltd (“QR”) pursuant to sections 55(1) and 55(1A) of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (‘DDA') in relation to allocated spaces on tilt trains operated by QR. -

Annual Report 2008-2009: Australian Human Rights Commission
This is my first annual report as President of the Australian Human Rights Commission. Since commencing my five-year term in October of last year, the people with whom I have met, the stories that I have listened to, and the community centres and immigration detention facilities that I have visited have strengthened my resolve to encourage a better understanding of the place of human rights in Australia. In particular, I am determined to encourage widespread recognition of the relevance of human rights for all people, no matter who they are, where they live or what their circumstances. -
