Human rights principles require that Indigenous people's relationships to land, based on traditional laws and customs, be given legal recognition and protection. International legal principles also recognise that Indigenous peoples have economic, social and cultural human rights. Native title, as it is constructed through the Australian legal system, has a limited capacity to meet these human rights standards. -

In our companies we see progress from building an understanding of gender diversity and taking the actions described in Phase 1. However, for most of us, these alone do not meet our aspirations. The next transition occurs when we move from an interest in elevating women in leadership, to an understanding that we must actively drive change in the same way that we do for any transformational business imperative. -

Pathways to Employment
Thanks for the opportunity to speak to this conference today. You are embarking on this topic, in my view, at just the right time. Unemployment is the lowest it has been for over a decade. Our economy is strong and needing more employees, and our population is ageing, reducing the relative size of the workforce. In coming years, there will be fewer of us to support more of us, so as many people as possible need to be working and paying taxes rather than receiving welfare benefits. What better time to introduce employees with disabilities in larger numbers. -
